I am trying to identify a certain type of flower/weed--assistance would be appreciated. Can you help?

The plant has thick, reddish leaves at the top of the stem and grows vertically with light purple blossoms.

The blossoms are almost bell-shaped, but they grow outwards (not downwards) and have five %26quot;petals%26quot; (not individual), two larger ones facing down, two to the side, and two smaller ones reaching upward. The inside of the blossoms are whitish, and the they grow in rings around the stem. I would estimate that the tallest plants are five or six inches tall.

I hope this is not too confusing! I%26#039;m no pro with flowers. If it helps, they usually grow alongside dandelions in my yard.

Thanks so much for any feedback!

What do you guys think about this type of flower arrangement colors I plan to send to my gf at work?

I been dating my gf for close to 2 months and Its my first ever pay check from work and I am planning to spend it all on the most important people to me... One of them being my gf. I plan on sending her flowers at work since she knows that I have never gave anyone gifts and It will be my first.... So I have come up with the following arrangements...

6 white roses - showing that I care

5 yellow roses - signifying friendship

1 red rose - love

Purpose is that I want her to know that I care of her and will be there for her; with the friendship and trust that we have, love will surely come.... This kind of summarizes what our relationship is currently like.

I want to write her about the meanings of the colors but I am not sure how to come about it... She is a simple girl and I dont know if I should just explain to her through a poem or directly tell her in writing.

What do you guys think about this arrangement and idea?
What do you guys think about this type of flower arrangement colors I plan to send to my gf at work?
um ohmygosh i want a bf who does that

poem is really romantic and cute

ohmygosh MARRY ME

jkjkj you have a gf and she is really lucky i wish u could teach a few things to the guys at my school
Reply:spend your whole first pay check ? i think she would like one rose better.

your idea is good, if you could afford it. you might make her feel bad for spending so much.

and to all the women who are wishing their boyfriend will do this, we dont do it after about the age of 18 because we learn fast that women will not date a guy who does it. they always leave us for the guy that never buys flowers, so we stop buying them so we can get a date.

want a guy to think of you? stop dating losers.
Reply:Yes, your flower arrangement is great = ) Not only is it sweet and creative, but it%26#039;s also very appropriate. Considering the fact that you two are still really fresh into the relationship, it seems right to have more of the white %26amp; yellow roses.

A poem would be nice and sweet. Personally, I%26#039;d like this better, because it shows that you%26#039;ve put in a little more effort. Some girls find poems corny, but when written with the right words, a poem can make most girls feel extremely special. Then again, I am not your girlfriend... Ha, ha, ha!

But, just go for it! It%26#039;s extremely sweet! You%26#039;d be surprised at how many guys DON%26#039;T do these sort of things for their girlfriends! GOOD LUCK!
Reply:Honestly if you put that much time and effort into that she%26#039;ll love it. Guys really don%26#039;t think about things that much. At least ones I%26#039;ve dated. She%26#039;ll really appreciate that you put a lot of thought into it.
Reply:it is ok .... and well known facts ......

if u have her pic, then u can make it animated alongwith ur pic, recording the audio as %26quot; i like u , i care u, and i love u, and i want u in my life for ever ... %26quot;

as soon as she opens this animated file, she listens these words from ur lips and looks at u in the animation ....

u may send it by mail ....
Reply:Call me a wet blanket, but I agree with the person mentioning the amount you spend .. the amount you spend means nothing compared to the thought you have put into this gift. While blowing everything on her is romantic in its extravagance, please let me suggest the following ..

Open a savings account with part of your check and add to it every check thereafter showing you%26#039;re a man who thinks abut the future .. a future that could include your wonderful girlfriend. Buy the flowers, but get them at a grocery or even a walmart/kmart store. You can get 3 bouquets of 18 roses for $9 each or $27 total .. give them to her in person, perhaps during a dinner out and explain to her the meaning of the colours in your own words while looking into her eyes. BELIEVE me she will remember that much more than if you blew a load of cash and had them sent to her work.
Reply:1st thing u need to know what is her favorite colors. If u dunno, then probably you need to play it safe by not getting any flowers that are overwhelming becoz....... it is a work place after all and you do not want her to be totally embarassed.

Light colors roses will be great. Avoid striking colors. Keep it romantic by wrapping with baby wreath.

Keep your words simple in describing your love since you said she is a simple gal. Be direct with the truth and keep it short so she can remember those 1st few words of expressing your love to her.

God bless!
Reply:i think its wonderful idea but you should tell her in a poem if you can she will love it ! and i think she will think you are the sweetest guy ever good luck and happiness to you
Reply:I love it! And just the fact that you put so much thought into it will mean so much to her! You%26#039;re one of the few guys left in the world who would actually take to time to do this kind of thing! She%26#039;s a lucky girl
Reply:SORRY I KNOW YOU SAID GUYS , DOES THAT MEAN A WOMEN CAN%26#039;T ANSWER? LOL. YES SEND THEM JUST THAT WAY, WITH A NOTE SAYING JUST WHAT YOU DID TO US ABOUT THE FLOWERS!!!!! THAT WAS FANTASTIC!!! I KNOW! I WORKED IN A FLOWER SHOP FOR YEARS, NEVER HAD THAT ONE, BUT I THINK YOUR SPECIAL!!!! BEST WISHES!!!!

Giving a flower to a girl or a women is it still effective?

Yes it is Sweetie, a timeless gesture and a well received gift.
Giving a flower to a girl or a women is it still effective?
I don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s the gift itself that matters. It%26#039;s the feelings and emotion that comes with the gift that matters. Flowers are still good to give but you could still give a girl a paper bag and if you showed that you love her or whatever, the present wouldn%26#039;t matter.

do what you think would make her feel happy :)

Flowers are no different than any other gift; clothing or electronics. But the fact that they last mere couple of days is the test; because -for most men- it%26#039;s your money you can%26#039;t bare to see wasted. And it%26#039;s right here that you miss the point. So yes, flowers will always be many -if not all- women%26#039;s favorite.
Reply:Heck yes, it%26#039;s still effective.
Reply:Yes, and No. If you do it because you want to then yes it is very effective still. But if you are doing it cause you did something wrong and you are trying to fix it by giving her flowers i wouldn%26#039;t. It doesn%26#039;t fix what you did and she will prob think that you are trying to buy her off.
Reply:yeah...of course. All girls like me like flowers esp red roses. It depends how u present urself with the flowers and the way u offer them ( like u can say %26quot;lovely roses for lovely lady%26quot; or something like that). Good Luck!
Reply:CANTERBURY BELL.......Research undertaken for the 1997 Celebration of Floral Art and Design in Canterbury Cathedral indicates that the first known reference to a flower called the Canterbury bell is in John Gerard%26#039;s herbal of 1597. Gerard explains that Canterbury bells are thus called because they grow more plentifully in Canterbury than elsewhere. The flower he describes is actually campanula trachelium. Indeed, campanula medium was known as Coventry bells during the 16th and 17th centuries

Do lilies flower more than once?

You bet. In my garden, they%26#039;re like weeds. They take over the place every year, can%26#039;t seem to get rid of them. (Calla Lilies)
Do lilies flower more than once?
Lilies are bulb so they can flower till there is bulb.Bulb grows naturally at some depth in the soil, and each year the new stem puts out adventitious roots above the bulb as it emerges from the soil. These roots are in addition to the basal roots that develop at the base of the bulb.

The plants are summer flowering. Most species are deciduous, but Lilium candidum bears a basal rosette of leaves for much of the year. Flowers are formed at the top of a single erect stem, with leaves being borne at intervals up the stem.
Reply:not in the same year. but they will come back year after year. you also don%26#039;t have to pull the bulbs out of the ground at the end of the year. after the first frost just trim the stalks down to the ground and next year they will com back bigger and nicer.

Reply:Lily bulbs like day lilies or Asiatic lilies are perennials, which means they bloom every year. They bloom for many years. I have some that are ten years old. They also sprout smaller bulbs that can mature. They do best in sunnier areas but can tolerate partial sun. The bulbs remain in the ground year round. Most bloom just once a year. There are some varieties like Stella Doro that bloom twice a year in the spring and summer. These look more like a lush bush and have smaller blooms.

Squirrels, moles and voles that dig near the bulbs can uproot or harm they bulbs by gnawing on them.

Lilies from a florist are most likely bred to bloom one time only although there%26#039;s no harm in planting them in the ground after the flowers die back. Lilies bought at the florist usually are not hardy. Who knows they may bloom again?

How did flower meerkat die?
This probably shouldn%26#039;t be in the hobby section...

Flower%26#039;s burrow was invaded by a Cobra. The burrow had her babies inside.

Beside the good leader and good mother she was, she went in after it.

Tragedy struck! Noble Flower, the Whisker%26#039;s noble leader, was bit by the cobra!

(They showed a shot of her with her face all swollen, then a shot of her dead, in the entrance of the burrow. No mention of what happened to the kids? Who would feed them, were they weaned?

Now, I know animal researchers aren%26#039;t supposed to get involved, but couldn%26#039;t they intervene for the sake of life or death, and get the poor critter to a vet?)

Had to reach for a tissue during that epi.

Is soy flower healthy?

do you mean soy %26quot;flour%26quot;? YES it is healthy.

Soy flour refers to defatted soybeans where special care was taken during desolventizing (not toasted) in order to minimize denaturation of the protein to retain a high Nitrogen Solubility Index (NSI), for uses such as extruder texturizing (TVP). It is the starting material for production of soy concentrate and soy protein isolate.

Defatted soy flour, is obtained from solvent extracted flakes, and contains less than 1% oil.

Full-fat soy flour, is made from unextracted, dehulled beans, and contains about 18% to 20% oil. Due to its high oil content a specialized Alpine Fine Impact Mill must be used for grinding rather than the more common hammermill.

Low fat soy flour, is made by adding back some oil to defatted soy flour. The lipid content varies according to specifications, usually between 4.5% and 9%.

High fat soy flour, is produced by adding back soybean oil to defatted flour, at the level of 15%.

Lecithinated soy flour, is made by adding soybean lecithin to defatted, low fat or high fat soy flours to increase their dispersibility and impart emulsifying properties. The lecithin content varies up to 15%.

Yes, alot of vegetarians use it. I do not like soy....

When the flower fails to bloom, how do you nurture it?

When the rose buds fail to open and bloom I dry them....so they maintain their beauty indefinitely...

Always a modest, demur bud, with the promise of opening, the promise of future fullness...and these dried unopened buds have a beauty of their own that equals the full blown open rose flower.....and I nurture it by always admiring its subtle soft loveliness.....
When the flower fails to bloom, how do you nurture it?
In a gardening sense if a flower fails to bloom then basically I won%26#039;t be able to get it to. There are different reasons this could happen, some unexplainable, just a course nature takes. Your best bet is to observe the plant and see if there is an overriding cause of lack of blooming such as lack of nutrients or water and take care of those needs to build a stronger plant.

In a people sense, people bloom at their own pace and timing. The best way to nurture people is to love them and be there for them to help them along their path.
Reply:I play music.
Reply:feed the flower with care and compassion and love.so that it can continue to grow.

Reply:At times all our best nurturing efforts fail and no flowers bloom. That%26#039;s the time to give up, I guess. You can do only so much and more efforts will be a waste. Go find another plant and take good care of it, that%26#039;s my take.
Reply:More dung.
Reply:I take care of water and fertilizer first, but I also make sure the flower has sufficient light and space to grow. Sometimes this means careful pruning, other times complete transplanting. It%26#039;s the same with things in life, they get crowded, uncared for, or left in toxic environments. It%26#039;s not always a matter of bloom where you%26#039;re planted, life is a more proactive venture. I encourage digging, and I dig life.
Reply:change the soil put it in a new place that will be suitable enough water and good soil and good environment.
Reply:Perhaps it wasn%26#039;t nurtured from the start?

I%26#039;ve seen this in relationships. Here is this beautiful plant, (love, whatever), %26amp; by virtue of its beauty, it will simply continue to please. Sometimes, when we notice that it%26#039;s %26quot;failing,%26quot; it has grown so weak a great deal of nurturing will be needed to restore it, or, it may be too late.

However, blind people say their other senses make up for the loss of sight, so, flowers, could be ableto%26quot;see%26quot; with, say, sound.

finally, since they use light to make food, they must be able to detect shadows and stuff, so it could be considered a primitive form of sight.

and since flowers use light to make food, they are very unlikely to lose this function, so NO.

Golden Wattle

Australia%26#039;s National Flower

Golden wattle ... Australia%26#039;s floral emblem

The golden wattle, Acacia pycnantha, is Australia%26#039;s national flower.

Australia’s floral emblem occurs naturally in the southern Eyre Peninsula of South Australia, western Victoria and southern inland areas of New South Wales. It has escaped in other parts of southern Australia.

In cultivation mature plants are reasonably frost and drought tolerant, and withstand moderate coastal exposure. The specimen (pictured) in the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens was planted in 1987.

Native occurrence in the Australian Capital Territory was the main criterion for choosing the floral emblem but other desirable features included horticultural merit and design potential, both in naturalistic and stylised representations.

Popular acceptance

Acacia pycnantha enjoyed popular acceptance as Australia%26#039;s national flower for much of this century but it was not proclaimed as the national floral emblem until 1988, the year of Australia%26#039;s bicentenary.

Acacia is the largest genus in the family Mimosaceae, the Mimosa family, which is mainly tropical and sub-tropical in distribution.

Acacia pycnantha, the golden wattle, is a shrub or small tree about 4 to 8 metres tall.

In 1992, September 1 was formally declared National Wattle Day.

Does passion flower interact with the effectiveness of the birth control pill?

Passionflower Side Effects, Interactions and Warnings

Passionflower supplies variable quantities of vitamin K and can lessen the effect of oral anticoagulant therapy.

Passionflower may increase the risk of bleeding or potentiate the effects of warfarin therapy.

Specifically, this herb should not be used at all in conjunction with the potent CNS-depressant analgesic, methotrimeprazine.

To minimize central nervous system depression and possible synergism, it would be wise to avoid using passion flower with procarbazine antineoplastic drugs.

The neuromuscular relaxing action of passion flower may be enhanced by the use of certain aminoglycoside antibiotics, such as clindamycin.

Passionflower may potentiate the effects of antiepileptic medications, increasing their sedative and cognitive effects.

An animal study has demonstrated that passionflower enhances the effects of pentobarbital, a medication used to promote sleep and for seizure disorders. Caution is advised when taking passionflower with sedatives because the herb may increase the effects of these substances. Additional examples of medications with sedative properties include certain antihistamines, such as diphenhydramine and hydroxyzine; drugs for anxiety, like a class called benzodiazipines including diazepam and lorazepam; and other medications used to treat insomnia. Interestingly, passionflower appears to work similarly to benzodiazipines

Saw Palmetto is believed to exert estrogen, androgen and alpha-adrenergic blocking effects. Because of this, the use of hormones, hormone-like drugs or adrenegic drugs concomitantly may need to be adjusted. So if you passionflower includes sa palmetto be careful.

What color flower do you wear for mother's day if she has passed away?

As a custom red carnations are worn to honor living mothers and white carnations for the deceased mothers.
What color flower do you wear for mother%26#039;s day if she has passed away?
Red is for the living and white is for those who have gone on, but recently I have notice the pinkish flower and was told that the pink represented the spirit of that Mother that lingered in the child wearing the flower. (This made sense to me). I am blessed to still have my Mom here with me and I will be purchasing a pink flower for my Mom in remembrance of her Mother. Happy Mother%26#039;s Day to all Mothers and a Mother doesn%26#039;t necessarily have to have gone through %26quot;childbirth%26quot; because raising a child is a %26quot;labor%26quot; of love that lasts a lifetime. God Bless.

If two flower bulbs from different species are cut in half, then twined together, will they grow into one?

for my science project, i%26#039;m trying to get other peoples opinons on their ideas of this working or not. Will the two halves act as one seperate bulb and grow to exhibit the domaniant traits of each? Or will they not even grow, and push each half apart?

basically what i%26#039;m doing is, taking 2 species of bulbs, and cuting a single bulb in half. (one of each species) with this im taking these two different halves, twineing them together, and growing it like anyother bulb.

What i%26#039;m trying to figure out is; will this bulb grow? if so, will it grow into a whole different species? or will it not even grow?
If two flower bulbs from different species are cut in half, then twined together, will they grow into one?
Don%26#039;t know, but I do know that the concept you are talking about is known as %26quot;grafting%26quot; in the gardening world. Surf. Hope this helps
Reply:My guess is that the bulbs would die or be two different plants next to each other
Reply:I think you%26#039;ll ruin both bulbs, but it sounds like a good experiment.

Try using different proportions of the different bulbs, instead of doing all of them half and half. You may find that a certain part in the middle of the bulb determines what kind of flower will grow.

Also try two varieties of the same species--like two colors of tulips.
Reply:Great experiment. If they live through the cutting in half, I think you will have the 2 original plants you started out with. I wonder if one will bully out the other.
Reply:I think the answer is yes. you are splicing two species but what that new species will look like depends on the two indivisual speciesyahoo finance

Colorful hippie flower Myspace layout? Where can I find it?

I%26#039;m looking for a 1960s pop floral Myspace layout design for my car%26#039;s website. LOL yes you heard right...I made Myspace sites for each of my cars, as an inside joke. One of my cars is a 1973 pastel blue Volkswagen Beetle...so I%26#039;d like to stick with a retro pop theme for %26quot;her%26quot; site. I checked out Myspacepimper.com but I didn%26#039;t see something that was all that spectacular for what I%26#039;m looking for. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Saving a flower?

my boyfriend bought me really pretty roses for my birthday. i want to keep them and save at least one. but how
Saving a flower?
All of the above or freeze the rose
Reply:spray wtih hair spray (areo), arrange them between wax paper, then put them in an Atlas with about 4 or 5 orther heavy books on top of the Atlas.......leave about untill totally dry........then spray with hairspray......
Reply:Before they start to brown, hang them upside down by their stems. They will dry and retain most of their shape and color (white ones don%26#039;t do well, hopefully yours are red or pink!).

Then you can keep them all in a vase or whatever...
Reply:You can either dry them .. or can press them in a book! My best friend froze her carnation she recieved for prom! Really it is just a matter of which way you%26#039;d rather have it! They fall apart when dry%26#039;d and sometimes turn out really pretty if pressed correctly! My friends frozen flower was still as pretty as it was when she recieved it..just froze! Hope I helped!
Reply:Press them in the pages of a thick book.

First, wrap the flower in wax paper. Then use whatever heavy object to press it flat
Reply:I have a product that is for drying flowers that is made from silica gel. You bury the flower and it eventually dries it in just a couple weeks or so. It dulls the color but maintains the shape beautifully. I%26#039;ve dried everything from small flowers to large sunflowers.

The gel can be %26quot;reactivated%26quot; by baking in the oven (it just dries it back out). I%26#039;ve had mine for probably 20 years.

Need a product to put on flower beds that will kill bindweed but not the flowers.?

Saw something on TV guaranteed to work but didn%26#039;t get name.
Need a product to put on flower beds that will kill bindweed but not the flowers.?
A Yahoo search for %26quot;bindweed eradication%26quot; (include the quotation marks in the search box) yields 27 results. If you do the same search, and are willing to spend a little time exploring, I%26#039;m sure that you will quickly find the information you seek.

Good luck with your search.
Reply:Geez, anybody can do a search on google.. you should have done that in the first place if you didn%26#039;t want to choose a better answer Report It

Reply:You have a problem. Any chemical that will kill the bindweed will also kill the flowers if it gets on them unless someone has invented a magic weed killer I haven%26#039;t heard of. Also they are perennials so if you don%26#039;t kill them this year they%26#039;ll be back next year. They spread by roots and seeds. There really isn%26#039;t an easy answer to your problem. Basically you have to weed them by hand and when you do loosen the soil with a hand trowel so you can get all the roots--if you leave any behind they can come up next year from what was left behind.

Next year, as soon as you see them start digging them out. Don%26#039;t let them get established. It%26#039;s a lot of work but your alternative is a chemical spray that will kill your flowers too.
Reply:Preen will not kill your flowers and is advertised on TV. Preen and green will also fertilize.
Reply:If there was a product out there that just killed the plants you didn%26#039;t want, whoever invented it would be a gazillionaire!!!

There are no herbicides that will selectively remove weeds out of flower beds without hurting your good plants. A suggestion that I have is to get a bottle of RoundUp... pull the roots of the bindweed and place it in the bottle. The plant will take up the RoundUp and circulate it through its system and eventually kill the plant. You can put more than one root in at a time. It won%26#039;t hurt your other plants (make sure the bottle doesn%26#039;t tip over) becasue RoundUp is what we call a systemic herbicide.

If you can, hand weeding is probably your best bet. It gives you 100% weed control! Bindweed is a real pain. I have puilled a lot of it in my day! You%26#039;ve got to get every little piece or it will just root back into the ground. This is why you shoud try the RoundUp idea!
Reply:just Glyphosate (round up) but paint iy directly on the plant so u don%26#039;t get over spray try on a sunny day in the morning to give it time to do its thang!
Reply:cover open soil with garden mulch when the weed starts to show through pull out in time it will work once vine weed gets set in you have problems if garden is established
Reply:Peed I think is the name.
Reply:I hate to inform you, but what you%26#039;re looking for does not exist at this point in time. The botanists that work for the chemical companies have not been able to create chemicals that differentiate between broadleaf plants. Being as bindweed and (most) flowers are broadleaf plants...what kills one, kills both. This means you%26#039;re going to have to hand-pull the bindweed. You might be able to rid yourself of this noxious weed with a pre-emergent. This will take more than a few weeks to work and you won%26#039;t be able to grow plants from seed in this bed for a few weeks afterward. Ask your local nursery about corn gluten meal and when to apply. This will stop most of the seeds from germinating. It may take 2-3 annual applications to exterminate the bindweed. You can probably find a chemical pre-emergent as well.puppy teeth

Is the flower/plant Corydalis an annual or perennial?

And will it grow well in full shade in Southwestern PA.

Please help and thanks in advance
Is the flower/plant Corydalis an annual or perennial?
According to Sunset%26#039;s Western Garden Guide %26quot;Corydalis%26quot; is a perennial. Should grow well in Zones 4-9 %26amp; 14-24, grows in partial shade, likes moist not soggy soil.

Now their zone map shows Zones 4-9 as being the southern parts of Washington state along the Pacific coast and Zones 14-24 would be the southern part of California %26amp; the desert areas of Arizona.

Don%26#039;t know how this would compare with Southwestern, PA but you might be able to do a comparison. Unfortunately their zone maps cover only to Wyoming.
Reply:Here is a web site. Hope this helps you out. If not go to a local library and barrow a flower book from A-Z.

https://www.rbgkew.org.uk/newviews/langu...

Year long gardner. Learning through trial and error.
Reply:Both annual and perennial. Corydalis is a genus with about 300 species of annual and perennial herbaceous flowering plants.

What USDA zone/location it will grow in depends on which species you wish to plant, although many are native to temperate areas.

Sorry I can%26#039;t be more specific.

What are the best kind of flowers to plant in a front yard flower bed that faces east?

these flowers will be in the cooler morning and noon sun, rather than the hot afternoon sun, so most sunny plants will do well with less water.

for color now, plant annuals (plants that bloom for one season). Pansies, snapdragons, and other %26quot;pony pack%26quot; flowers are easy to find at garden centers. if you like herbs, you can also plant basil and sage for a little loww green cover.

for color in following years with leaves this season, plant biennials or perennials (plants that bloom for two or three seasons). Wildflowers, rudbeckia, daisy, or even bulb-type plants like iris, tulips, daffodils, and amaryllis make beautiful flowers next year. if you plant bulbs, make sure you find out if they need to be uprooted before frost every year.

Garden of Eden?

Kahanu Garden

http://ntbg.org/gardens/kahanu.php

On the rugged Hāna coast, along the far eastern shores of the Hawaiian island of Maui, Kahanu Garden grows in splendid isolation, nestled in the one of the largest, untamed native hala (Pandanus) forests in the Islands. Plant collections from the Pacific Islands are the focus here, particularly plants of value to the Hawaiian people as well as to other cultures of Polynesia, Micronesia, and Melanesia. At Kahanu one learns the cultural relationships between the people and these remarkable plants that were transported around the Pacific on ancient voyaging canoes. Among the different ethnobotanical collections that are housed here is the world%26#039;s largest collection of breadfruit cultivars, which serves as a germplasm repository for this important South Pacific food crop.Situated in the storied land of Honomā`ele, Kahanu Garden is the home to Pi`ilanihale, a massive lava-rock structure that is believed to be the largest ancient place of worship (heiau) in Polynesia. This awe-inspiring cultural site is registered as a National Historic Landmark.

Does the flower, tulips, bloom only once per year?

Yes, in the spring. You can %26quot;force%26quot; them to bloom at another time, but they naturally bloom only once a year. After the flower dies, do not cut back the leaves. Allow them to turn yellow and die off before cutting them. As they die, they are feeding the bulb for next year%26#039;s bloom.
Does the flower, tulips, bloom only once per year?
OK no no no wrong answer they only bloom once a year don%26#039;t force them that so cruel let them alone they come up nature..tulips need little or no care besides pulling the weeds around them plant tulips in a flower bed all by them selves they take care of them selves and planting many beautiful colors together is a wonderful view of a garden
Reply:Yes, tulips only bloom in the spring. When the flower falls off be sure to snap off the seed pod so the plant does not put all it%26#039;s energy into the pod. Ater the leaves turn brown you can then cut them off as the energy to the plant has now gone back into the bulb for next years flowers. Be sure not to cut back the leaves and stems before turning brown or there will be a shortage of energy left in the bulb for next year.genealogy mormon

Any craft flower ideas with fresh, dried, pressed or paper mostly rosesor iris?

irises dont dry well, roses you can hang upside down and dry, and make arrangements with them or use them on wreathes, if you have lots of loose petals you can put them in clear jars and turn them into potpourri with rose oil. you can put dry rose petals into paper pulp if you make your own paper, you can press pansies very well and make stationery or greeting cards with them, also seperating the petals of batchleors buttons make good petals for pressing and putting into paper pulp, you could mix them into wax and make candles, you could mix them into soap and mold bars of glycerine soap with your rose petals in them. you can also cook your rose petals, in a cast iron pan and roll the mush into beads and dry them, they smell rosey for years.

Pressed flowers can be laminated for bookmarks, also you can use dried flowers on wreaths or in corsages. it really depends on what you are willing to do with the flowers

Building brick flower box 2.5ft tall, must it be a double brick construction,is single brick be strong enough?

You will always be better off to do it in double brick for strength if it is over 21.5 metres square. DO NOT worry so much about the brick factor until you have sorted the drainage factor. If it is going to be build on soil ground you will only ave to lightly seal the inside, ALTHOUGH if it is going to be built on either pavers or concrete you will need to have holes in the bottom bricks to let the water out. The easiest way to do this is to have the the occasional layer of the bottom bricks MUD gouged out halfway up the brick and through both courses and excess water can flow out easily.

Dimensions factor in to this.

If it is 20%26#039;x6%26#039;x2.5%26#039;,,,[WxLxH] then no, it might not be.

If the Bricks are Interlocking is another factor.

What type of soil, how much water.

How long do you wish it to stand?

If 4%26#039;x2%26#039;x2.5%26#039; yes, single will work. for 2 years or so.
Reply:I%26#039;m told a double because a single will not hold up ( my hubby a union masonry for 35yrs one of the best, trust me on this one) Let me know if you need anymore help he said he%26#039;ll try to help!!!make up
