If a flower self pollinates..... will it go blind?

I%26#039;m not sure...but it certainly starts to grow pollen on its leaves. One time I walked in on my Bird of Paradise. It was horrible. There was a Home and Garden magazine opened to a centerfold of an African Violet with all of her pistils showing and there was nectar everywhere!

You could have said %26quot;Dee%26quot;flowered and you totally missed your opportunity, man. Report It

Reply:LOL........ you think I didn%26#039;t think of that? It%26#039;s just that I%26#039;m allergic to african violets so no way did I remove her petals. I%26#039;m too much of a pansy. *wink* Report It

Reply:well considering that flowers do not posses eyes, they cannot, go blind. they are alredy blind.

However, blind people say their other senses make up for the loss of sight, so, flowers, could be ableto%26quot;see%26quot; with, say, sound.

finally, since they use light to make food, they must be able to detect shadows and stuff, so it could be considered a primitive form of sight.

and since flowers use light to make food, they are very unlikely to lose this function, so NO.

unless you are speaking of the fly trap plant, which do not require sunlight. They could lose thier sight.
Reply:no but it would need corrective lens
Reply:marianne, your avatar%26#039;s laugh says it all. hahaha!
Reply:Only if it frondles itself and is pistil whipped.

Do shrinking violets ever get lucky? Wasn%26#039;t there a book about this titled, %26quot; Madame Ovary?
Reply:Yeah but at least they smell nice!!
Reply:Probably
Reply:that is funny-should be in the jokes segement (or x rated,ha)
Reply:I%26#039;m afraid it%26#039;ll start growing hair on its leaves!
Reply:i%26#039;m pretty sure thats why they are already blind
Reply:No, it wont go blind. The flower is wise enough not to believe in such superstition.
Reply:must be blind already?...ive never seen one wearing glasses
Reply:No. But a coconut tree would get hairy palms.
Reply:only if it does it too oftenmake up
